LISETTE RODRIGUEZ
(Mother/Teacher/Artistic Director/Choreographer/Dancer) Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Lisette Rodriguez-Narang began her training in 1992 at Northern Illinois University later earning a degree in Dance, Health, and Physical Education. Dr. Charles Carter a professor at N.I.U. began training Rodriguez in 1993. Under the direction of Dr. Carter, Rodriguez became a principal dancer in the Baltimore Chicago Contemporary Dance Theater founded in 1997. The company provided her with an opportunity to teach, choreograph, and perform in several areas of the country, including the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C. Over the past decade and half, Rodriguez also studied at the American College Dance Festival, American Dance Festival, Urban Bush Woman Festival, Miami Dance Festival, River North Dance Company, Joel Hall Dance Studio, Deeply Rooted Dance Company, Chicago Dance Masters, and the Association of Blacks in Dance Conference.
Rodriguez gave birth to two beautiful children and has been a dance educator and Orchesis director at Elk Grove High School since 1999. While teaching at Elk Grove High School, she received a dance scholarship from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee to earn her Masters in Fine Arts in 2006. In 2007 Rodriguez founded and directed the Rodriguez Dance Theatre. Through teaching and directing, Rodriguez continues to create opportunities for students and community members to train, choreograph, and perform at a high level.
